Gain
Gain is used to amplify a quiet signal before sampling it.
Line 1&2 and Phono 1 inputs have a hardware gain multiplier which is applied before the gain
amplifier knob on the back of the S2400. Gain can be set to ×1 (no extra gain), ×10, or ×100. Line
inputs 3&4 and phono 2 have an optional ×10 software gain multiplier.
Sample Time
The sample time can be set to a specific length. Sampling will stop when the selected time has
been reached. Sampling can also still be stopped by pressing the Rec/Edit key.
When sample time is set to a note value, the actual time is based on the current tempo. When
sample time is set to a number of bars, the actual time is based on both the current tempo and
the current pattern’s time signature.
The available sample time options are: 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1 bar, 2 bars, 4 bars, 100ms, 200ms,
500ms, 1 sec, 2 sec, 2.5 sec, or Max.
Max Sample Time
The S2400 has 64 MB of sample RAM. New samples can be up to 64 MB long. Maximum sample
time depends on the bit rate and number of channels.

Sample Review Mode
After sampling, the screen changes to the Waveform Editor. There the whole sample, or slices of
it, can be saved and assigned tracks.
An analysis of the sample will pop up saying "Sample is good" or some other adjective.
The same keys used in the waveform editor are used here, plus the following:
Run/Stop: Start/stop playback of the sample.
Back or Rec/Edit: Returns to sample recording mode.
