Time stretching a sound stretches or shrinks the length without changing its pitch. Select Time
Stretch from the Track Settings menu, or press F7 when a WAV file is selected in the file
browser. The time stretch function is not real-time and no pattern or song can be running while
stretching.
File
The file name of the original file being stretched.
Sound Type
Select Beats when stretching one or more measures of music. Select Note when stretching a
single note or sound. The sound type affects the stretch algorithm.
Note
When stretching a note, the S2400 will attempt to detect the pitch of the sound and fill in the
closest note. If it cannot detect the pitch, the note field will default to C-2. If you know the
actual pitch of the sound, you can edit the note field.
Beat Count
When stretching beats, fill in the number of beats (quarter notes) in the original sample. The
S2400 guesses the Beat Count based on the sample length, assuming 4/4 time. Changing or
correcting this number will change the From BPM field.
From BPM
When stretching beats, fill in the tempo of the original sample. The S2400 will fill in the From
BPM based on the sample length and Beat Count, but it can be changed.
To BPM
When stretching beats, fill in the tempo of the resulting stretched sample. This field defaults to
the current pattern tempo.
From Time
The From Time is automatically filled in with the length of the original sample, and cannot be
changed. It is expressed in seconds.
To Time
The To Time is the length of the stretched sample. This field is typically used when the type is
note, however it can be used for beats as well. It is recalculated when the From BPM, To BPM,
or Stretch Percent are changed, and those fields are recalculated when the To Time is changed.
Stretch Pct.
Stretch Percent is the actual number that is used by the time stretch algorithm, however it is
easier for a human to express the stretch in terms of BPM or time. It is recalculated when the
From BPM, To BPM, or Stretch Percent are changed, and those fields are recalculated when the
percent is changed.
