• Whenmixingacidwithwater,ALWAYS ADD ACID TO WATER. NEVER ADD WATER TO ACID.
The power pack has an automatic cell cleaning feature (polarity reversing) that removes scale deposits from the cell
(seeSection5.6).
Scalewillforminexcessivelyhardwaterorfrompoolwaterthatisoutofbalanceandinascalingcondition.
FollowingtheinstallationoftheJandy®AquaPure®Eichlorinegeneratingdevice,checkthecellonceamonthfor
signs of scale.
If the cell has a tendency to scale, it is recommended that every month the cell be removed and inspected for scale
formationand/ordebris.Someltersallowdebristopassthroughtothecellwhichcouldlodgebetweentheplates
in the cell. A small amount of scale formation is normal. If by looking through the cell it is observed that there is
excessivescaleformationbetweentheplatesordebrisispresent,thecellmustbecleanedasfollows:
1. Ensure that all power to the power pack and the controller is disconnected/turned off at the circuit breaker.
2.
Shut off any necessary valves to prevent any water loss.
3. Removetheterminalcapandcellleads.
4. Undothelockingring.Ifrequired,usethelockingringtoolprovided(seeFigure25).
5. Removethecell(seeFigure26).
6. Retthecaponthecellandinvert(seeFigure27).
7. Withprotectiveglassesandgloveson,addone(1)partacidtoten(10)partswaterandmix.
8. Fillthecelltothetopoftheelectrodeplateswiththeacidsolution.Leavesolutionincellnolongerthan30min.
9. After the cell has been cleaned, you can dispose of the solution by pouring it into the pool water or dispose of
according to local regulations.
10. ReattachthecellasdescribedinSection3.3,steps13and14.
Disconnectpowertothesystematthemaincircuitbreakerbeforeperformingthisproceduretoavoidriskof
electricshockwhichcanresultinpropertydamage,severeinjuryordeath.
