(3) To replace the lamp, insert the dedicated wrench between the socket and the
lamp. Carefully remove the lamp from the socket holes by gently working the
inserted wrench up and down. Be careful not strike the lamp against the case.
(4) Take out a new lamp from its case and insert it perpendicularly into the socket
by aligning the prongs of the lamp with the socket holes.
(5) Mount the lid back into place.
(6) Turn the $Power$ switch On and make sure that the instrument operates
properly. (See 3.4 “Performance Check,” for details.)
3.5.4 Replacing the Glow Discharge Tube
The glow discharge tube is used to activate the Na lamp. If the light source does not
light, replace the glow discharge tube in the lamp housing.
Use commercially available glow discharge tube FG-4P (200 volts).
WARNING : The lamp is still very hot after turning the $Power$ switch Off. Therefore,
wait at least five minutes before touching the lamp.
(1) Turn the $Power$ switch Off.
(2) Remove the lid from the lamp housing on the left side of the instrument. The
glow discharge tube can be seen at upper left side in the rear. (See Figure 1 or
Figure 2. )
(3) Remove the glow discharge tube by turning it counterclockwise. Be careful not
to touch the lamp.
(4) Insert a new glow discharge tube of the same rating into the holder. Turn
clockwise to secure the tube in place.
(5) mount the lid back into place.
(6) Turn the $Power$ switch On and make sure that the Na lamp lights.
If the Na lamp does not light after replacing the glow discharge tube, the Na lamp
may be defective. If so, replace the light source with an new one.
