3 Next, in this condition, open the lit of the sample chamber, replace the known sample
with the unknown sample will then be shown.
Note: Once the lid of the sample chamber has been opened, do not close the lid until the
known sample has been replaced by the unknown sample.
4 After measuring the unknown sample, open the sample chamber lid, replace the
unknown sample with the known sample used above, close the lid, and measure until
the optical rotation stabilizes at +30 ∼ +50 °.
5 Remove the known sample from the sample chamber and close the lid. The
measurement value will return to zero.
Note : When the sign of the optical rotation of the unknown sample is minus, use the same
operations with the known sample that is also minus.
