Replacement
Note: On machines prior to serial no. 1360035 no bearing
housing is fitted. On these machines it is only necessary to
carry out steps 3, 7 and 8 below.
1 Assemble a new bearing H fully into the housing
using a suitable press.
2 Fit the bearing housing assembly F and bearing
shield plate G to the track frame with the bearing
facing the sprocket and fit bolts D and E loosely.
3 Slide the sprocket onto the motor drive shaft taking
care to align the slot with the drive shaft key. Before
fitting washer and capscrew A apply JCB Retainer
(High Strength) to the threads.
K
Consumables ( T 1-15).
4 Check that the sprocket can be turned easily by hand.
It should be possible to turn the sprocket a small
amount even with the motor hoses connected and full
of oil.
If the sprocket will not easily rotate, adjust the position
of the drive motor shaft and bearing housing using a
hammer until unrestricted movement is achieved.
5 Continue tightening bolts D and E whilst regularly
checking that the sprocket can still be easily turned. If
the sprocket binds at any point partially slacken the
bolts and re-adjust the position of the bearing.
If correctly assembled there should be no appreciable
difference in effort to turn the sprocket between steps
4 and 5. If there is, repeat the procedure.
6 Once correct assembly is achieved finally remove
each nut or bolt in turn and apply JCB Retainer (High
Strength) to the threads then re-tighten to 74Nm
(54.6 lbf ft; 7.5 kgf m). K
Consumables ( T 1-15).
7 Refit the track and adjust the track tension K
Track
Adjustment ( T J-4).
8 Move the engine back to its correct position
K
Engine Mounting ( T K-3) and refit the engine
cover K
Engine Cover ( T B-1).
