Engine Air Filter
Changing the Element - Honda Petrol
Engine
1 Stop the engine.
2 Open the engine cover (if fitted).
3 Remove the wing nut A and the air filter cover B.
4 Remove the elements C and D and separate them.
Carefully check both elements for holes or tears. If
damaged, replace with new elements.
5 Foam element (D). Wash the element in a solution of
household detergent and warm water, rinse
thoroughly and allow to dry. Soak the element in
clean engine oil and squeeze out the excess oil. If too
much oil is left in the element the engine will smoke
during initial start up.
6 Paper element (C). Tap the element lightly several
times on a hard surface to remove excess dirt or blow
compressed air through the filter from the inside out.
Never brush the element to remove dirt as this will
force the dirt into the fibres. Renew the element if
excessively dirty.
