Track Maintenance
Track Cleaning
Raising the Machine
!MWARNING
If two people are doing this job make sure that the
person operating the controls is a competent
operator. If the wrong control lever is moved, or if the
controls are moved violently, the other person could
be killed or injured.
If you will be working with another person, make sure
that you both understand what is to be done. Learn
and use the recognised signalling procedures. Do not
rely on shouting - he will not hear you.
To clean the tracks, you must turn them. When the
tracks are turning, keep clear of rotating parts. Before
starting this job, make sure that you have no loose
clothing (cuffs, ties etc.) which could get caught in
moving parts. Keep people not involved with this job
well away!
MD-3-3-2
1 Park the machine on level ground and stop the
engine.
2 Raise the machine so that the tracks are clear of the
ground. Place blocks underneath the chassis and
make sure the machine is securely supported.
Cleaning the Tracks
!MWARNING
Rotating the tracks off the ground may cause stones
and other debris to be thrown with considerable force.
If you are on the outside, keep well clear. Keep other
people well clear.
8-3-5-8
1 Operate the track control to rotate one track, first one
way then the other to shake off the mud. If necessary
the other person may use water from a hose to help
loosen sticky materials.
2 Pay particular attention to the area between the track
and the undercarriage as this area is susceptible to
dirt build-up which can result in poor track
performance.
3 When the track is clean stop the rotation. Repeat for
the track on the other side of the machine.
4 Inspect the tracks, rollers, sprockets and idler wheels
for damage or oil leaks. Replace any damaged parts.
5 Lower the machine to the ground.
