Honda Petrol Engine
!MWARNING
Petrol
Petrol is extremely flammable and is explosive under
certain conditions.
Avoid repeated or prolonged petrol contact with skin
and avoid inhaling petrol vapour.
Refuel in a well ventilated area with the engine
stopped.
Do not smoke or allow flames or sparks in the area of
refuelling.
Do not overfill the fuel tank. There should be no fuel
in the filler neck.
Make sure that the filler cap is correctly and securely
fitted.
Be careful not to spill fuel when refuelling. Spilled fuel
or fuel vapour may ignite. If any fuel is spilt, make sure
the area is dry before starting the engine.
MD-1-1-2
The carburettor is factory set for efficient operation at
normal low altitudes. If the machine is to be used at
altitudes above 5,000 feet (1,500 metres), the air/fuel
mixture will be too rich and performance will decrease. Get
your service dealer to make carburettor adjustments for
working at this altitude. Even with the carburettor
adjustment, engine power will decrease about 3.5% for
each 1,000 feet in altitude. On returning to low altitude, the
mixture will be too lean for normal low altitude operation.
Get your service dealer to readjust the carburettor air/fuel
mixture to standard low altitude settings.
Use automotive unleaded petrol to minimise combustion
chamber deposits.
Never use an oil/petrol mixture or contaminated petrol.
Idle Speed Adjustment
The engine is factory set with an idling speed of 1400 rpm
+/-150. If adjustment is needed, proceed as follows:
1 Start the engine outdoors and allow it to warm up to
normal operating temperature.
2 Move the throttle lever to the idle position.
3 Turn the throttle stop screw B to obtain the standard
idling speed (1400 rpm +/-150).
