6.3.5 Water Protection
The aftertreatment system must be protected from water ingress up the exhaust pipe as this
may freeze and damage the catalyst. Protection of the NOx sensors from water and other
contamination is also mandatory to avoid premature damage to the components.
6.3.6 Exhaust Tailpipe
The exhaust gas tailpipe (installed directly after the SCR canister) must stop water ingress.
Lengths over 300 mm must use a separate mounting for support. Ref 6.3.1 and 6.3.2.
The exhaust gas tailpipe must allow for installing exhaust emissions sampling equipment for
in-service conformity testing. To allow for this, the exhaust outlet must be of a continuous
uniform section and have sufficient clearance from other components to allow for a 200mm
extension to be fitted for this purpose.
N NOTE: Scavenge systems are to be removed from the exhaust system prior to
emissions sampling takes place.
