LX Series Unit Ventilator Controller User's Guide 51
Networking Operations
This section describes the operations that occur only as a result of network
connections, and provides a description of network variable properties.
Slave Operation
The UVC follows the demands of another unit ventilation controller if nviSlave is
bound to the nvoUnitStatus of another unit ventilation controller. The network
variable nviSlave is type SNVT_hvac_status.
Load Shedding
If the Unit Ventilator Controller receives an input on nviShedding, it reduces its
output. As the value of nviShedding increases, the UVC further reduces its output.
For example, if nviShedding is at 25%, heating and cooling outputs do not exceed
75%.
Shedding is stopped if frost protection is enabled, and space temperature falls
under 46°F (8°C). The network variable nviShedding is type SNVT_switch.
Setting up Network Connections
The Unit Ventilator Controller interfaces through the Local Operating Network
(LON) to other unit ventilators, HMI, and other LONWORKS Network Services
(LNS®) based software using the LonTalk® protocol and LNS services.
Whereas the UVC can function without a network connection, the network
variables sent and received over the LON by the controller can affect all of its
operations.
