6.8.3.2 Bus termination
Information
At the beginning and the end of a RS-485-A bus there has to be a bus ter-
mination. If the bus termination (beginning end) is done by an external par-
ticipant the termination must be deactivated for the CP 50x/x.
The bus termination must take place at the bus-end (i.e. at the first and last
bus participant.)
The following options result for the CP 50x/x:
No termination (OFF)
Bus termination with resistor termination (R)
Bus termination with resistor termination without fail-safe
Bus termination with AC termination (AC)
For most applications the AC termination will be suffucient. It is recomendet
due to the low power loss.
In the following cases the resistor termination is recomended:
If restistor termination is desired by another device at the bus.
If there are especially high noise levels at the bus due to cable routing.
