Editing MIDI
Youcanmodifyyourperformanceafterrecording,if
youwish.Forinstance,youcanerasemisplayednotes,
orcorrecttheirpitchandtiming.
TimingcorrectionisdonethroughQuantization.This
takesthenotesyouplayedandlinesthemuptothe
nearestbeatorfractionofabeat,basedonthe
resolutionyo
uselect.Itcanalsobeusedtoadda
“swing”feel.Let’stryquantizingtheMIDItrackwe
justrecorded.
1. GototheSequencerP4:TrackEditpage.
Thispageincludesagraphicwhichshowseachtrack
inthesequence.Thesmallrectanglesrepresent
measureswhichcontainaudioorMIDIdata.

SelectMIDITr
ack01fromthepopupabovethe
graphic.
UsingtheFromMeasureandToEndofMeasure
parametersatthebottomofthedisplay,settherange
ofmeasuresthatyouwishtomodify.Fornow,set
Fromto001,andToEndto064.
3. Inthepagemenu,selecttheQuantizecom
mand.
TheQuantizedialogappears.
4. SettheResolutiontothedesiredrhythmicvalue.
Asageneralrule,choosetheshortestnote‐valueused
intherecordedperformance.
5. PresstheOKbuttontoquantizetheselecteddata.
Iftheresultwasdifferentfromwhatyouhadexpected,
presstheCOMPAREswitchtorestorethesongtothe
origin
alstatebeforethequantizationwasapplied.
ExperimentwithdifferentResolutions,setIntensityto
lessthan100%inordertopreservesomeofthenatural
feel,orraisetheSwingvaluetocreateashuffleor
swingfeel.
Youcanalsoapplyquantizationduringrecording,
us
ingtheRECResolutionparameteratthetopofthe
P0page.Choosethedesiredresolution,and
quantizationwillbeappliedasyourecord.

Template Songs
TemplateSongsstoreprettymucheverythinginthe
SongexceptfortheMIDIandaudiodataitself.This
includesProgramselections,trackparameters,effects
andKARMAsettings,andtheSong’snameandtempo.
ThefactorypresetTemplateSongsletyougetupand
runningquicklywithmatchedsetsofsoundsand
eff
ectsforvario
usstylesofmusic.Youcanalsocreate
yourownTemplateSongswithyourfavoritesounds
andsetups.
NotethatTemplateSongsdonotincludeMIDIdatafor
songtracksandpatterns,audiodata,andsoon.
WhileloadingaTemplateSong,youcanalso
optionallyloadoneormoreDrumpatternstoa
spec
ifie
dTrack.
1. IntheSequencerP0:Play/RECpage,pressthe
pagemenubuttonandselecttheLoadTemplate
Songcommand.
Adialogboxwillappear.
2. IntheFromfield,choosetheTemplateSongyou
wanttoload.
3. Checkthe“CopyPatterntoMIDITracktoo?”
check‐box.
Whenthisboxischecked,a
dialogboxforcopyinga
patternwillautomaticallyappearafterLoadTemplate
Songiscomplete.
Ifthisisnotchecked,onlytheselectedTemplateSong
willbeloaded.
4. PresstheOKbuttontoloadthetemplatesong,or
presstheCancelbuttontoexitwithoutmaking
changes.
Whenyo
upressOK,theTe
mplateSong’ssettingswill
becopiedintothecurrentSong.
IfCopyPatterntoMIDITracktoo?wascheckedin
step3,theCopyPatternToMIDITrackdialogbox
willappear.
5. UsetheBank(UserorPreset)andPatternpopups
toselectapatterntocopy.

IntheToMIDITr
ackfield,selectthetracktouse
forthepattern.
Note:IneachoftheeighteenpresetTemplateSongs,
track1isalwaysassignedtoaDrumProgram.(In
somecases,othertracksmayalsohaveDrum
Programs.)
7. IntheMeasurefield,setthemeasureonwhich
you’dlikethepatt
erntostart.
Followingthenamesforeachofthe697preset
patterns,themusicalstyleandthenameofthemost
suitableDrumProgramsarepartiallydisplayed.
ByloadingaDrumProgramandthecorresponding
presetpattern,youcaninstantlysetupadrumtrackto
matchtheTe
mplateSong.
8. T
oloadthepattern,presstheOKbutton.
Afterthepatternisloaded,theMeasurewillcountup
automatically.Youcanthencopyanotherpatternif
desired.Forinstance,youcanusedifferentpatterns
oneaftertheothertobuildupasong,withdifferent
patternsforverse,chorus,an
dbridge.

button,andyou’redone!
