1-3-4 Mechanical problems
Problem Causes/check procedures Corrective measures
(1)
No primary paper feed.
Check if the surfaces of the following rollers
are dirty with paper powder: pickup roller and
paper feed roller.
Clean with isopropyl alcohol.
Check if the pickup roller and paper feed roller
are deformed.
Check visually and replace any deformed
rollers (See page 1-4-2).
Defective installation position of drive unit. Check visually and remedy if necessary.
Defective PF paper feed motor. Replace the PF paper feed motor.
Defective installation position of retard roller
spring.
Check visually and remedy if necessary.
(2)
Skewed paper feed.
Check if the paper is curled. Replace the paper.
Misadjust the paper length guide or position
of the width guides of the cassette.
Check visually and remedy if necessary.
(3)
Multiple sheets of paper
are fed at one time.
Check if the paper is excessively curled. Replace the paper.
Deformed retard roller. Check visually and replace the retard roller
assembly (retard roller) if it is deformed (See
page 1-4-4).
(4)
Paper jams.
Check if the contact between the pickup roller,
paper feed roller and retard roller is correct.
Check visually and remedy if necessary.
(5)
Abnormal noise is heard.
Check if the pulleys, rollers and gears operate
smoothly.
Grease the bearings and gears.
Check if the drive unit are installed correctly. Check visually and remedy if necessary.
