8.7 JUMPERS
There are seven jumpers located on the main circuit board of the Model 331. See Figure 8-7 for the
location of the jumpers (reference designators JMP1 thru JMP7).
CAUTION: Only JMP4 and JMP7 should be changed by the user. Please consult with
Lake Shore before changing any of the other jumpers.

JMP1 RUN / TEST RUN Used for diagnostic purposes only.
JMP2 RS-485 / RS-232 RS-232 Serial Interface mode. RS-485 is not supported.
JMP3 IEEE SHIELD Not Used Used for ground loop testing.
JMP4 330 / 340 330
Set at factory to reflect configuration of Input A
where 330 = 1 mA excitation current on Pin 3 of
the connector and 340 = Pin 3 connected to
shield. Refer to Paragraph 3.5.1.
JMP5 DI/RE / TC —
Set at factory to reflect configuration of Input A
where DI/RE = diode/resistor and TC =
thermocouple.
JMP6 DI/RE / TC —
Set at factory to reflect configuration of Input B
where DI/RE = diode/resistor and TC =
thermocouple.
JMP7 330 / 340 330
Set at factory to reflect configuration of Input B
where 330 = 1 mA excitation current on Pin 3 of
the connector and 340 = Pin 3 connected to
shield. Refer to Paragraph 3.5.1.
8.8 ERROR MESSAGES
The following are error message that may be displayed by the Model 331 during operation.
Message Description
Disabled
Input is turned off.
NoCurve
Input has no curve.
S.Over
Input is at or over full-scale sensor units.
S.Under
Input is at or under negative full-scale sensor units.
T.Over
Input at or over the high end of the curve.
T.Under
Input at or under the low end of the curve.
HTR Open
No heater load is connected to the rear panel heater terminals.
Most commonly repaired by checking the heater connections.
May also be caused by a loose connection or malfunctioning
component within the instrument.
HTR Fail
Internal component malfunction. Contact Lake Shore.
Defective NOVRAM
Defective NOVRAM. Contact Lake Shore.
Invalid NOVRAM
Invalid data or contents in NOVRAM – Press and hold the
Escape key for 20 seconds to initialize NOVRAM. Refer to
Paragraph 4.21.
