Bipolar mode refers to whether or not negative voltages are used, as shown below.

For this first example we will choose Bipolar Mode On. Press the Enter key.

-10V Value 0½
The –10 V value is entered using the numeric keypad, which includes the numbers 0 – 9, +/–, and
decimal point. For this example, we will enter 0 K. Press the
Enter key.

+10V Value 100½
The +10 V value is entered using the numeric keypad, which includes the numbers 0 – 9, +/–, and
decimal point. For this example, we will enter 100 K. Press the
Enter key. You are returned to the
normal display.
The analog output will now correspond to the input temperature as shown below. For example, if the
actual reading was 50 K, the analog output would be at 0 V (middle of the scale).

If we repeat the same procedure using all the same settings, but select Bipolar Mode Off, the output
would be as shown below. In this case, if the actual reading was 50 K, the analog output would be
+5 V (middle of the scale).
