Step 1. Read the safety information that begins on “Safety” on page v and “Installation guidelines” on page

Step 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords.
Step 3. Remove the cover (see
“Removing the cover” on page 424).
Step 4. Grasp the flash device blue lockbar (shown in the following illustration) and slide it toward the SAS/
SATA riser-card assembly to the unlock position and remove it from the connector.

If you are instructed to return the flash device, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging
materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Installing a USB embedded hypervisor flash device
Use this information to install a USB embedded hypervisor flash device.
To install a hypervisor flash device, complete the following steps:
Step 1. Read the safety information that begins on
“Safety” on page v and “Installation guidelines” on page
417
.
Step 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords.
Step 3. Remove the cover (see
“Removing the cover” on page 424).
Step 4. Align the flash device with the connector on the SAS/SATA RAID riser-card assembly and push it
into the connector until it is firmly seated.
Step 5. Slide the blue lockbar toward the flash device to the locked position until it is seated firmly.
