If you are instructed to return the Ethernet adapter, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging
materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Installing the optional two-port Ethernet adapter
Use this information to install the optional two-port Ethernet adapter.
To install the Ethernet adapter, complete the following steps:
Step 1. Read the safety information that begins on
“Safety” on page v and “Installation guidelines” on page
417
.
Step 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords.
Step 3. Remove the cover (see
“Removing the cover” on page 424).
Step 4. Remove the PCI riser-card assembly (if installed) from PCI riser connector 1 (see
“Removing a PCI
riser-card assembly” on page 487
).
Step 5. Attach the rubber stopper on the chassis, along the edge of the system board, as shown in the
following illustration.

Step 6. Remove the adapter filler panel on the rear of the chassis (if it has not been removed already).
