Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother

ToinstalltheRAID500key,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallexternalmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,
disconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedto
theserver.
2.Prepareyourserver.See“Removingorextendingtheserverfromtherackcabinet”onpage55.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage55.
4.LocatetheThinkServerRAID500Adapter.Then,disconnectanycablesfromtheadapter.
5.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheRAID500keytoanyunpaintedsurfaceonthe
outsideoftheserver.Then,taketheRAID500keyoutofthepackage.
Note:CarefullyhandletheRAID500keybyitsedges.
6.LocatetheRAID500keyconnectorontheThinkServerRAID500AdapterandinserttheRAID500
keyintotheconnector.EnsurethattheRAID500keyissecurelyseated.Ifnecessary,removethe
ThinkServerRAID500AdapterfirstbeforeinstallingtheRAID500key.Then,reinstalltheThinkServer
