ToinstallaMicrosoftWindowsServer2008operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.Inserttheoperatingsysteminstallationdiscintotheopticaldrivethatyouhavesetastherststartup
device.Then,starttheserverfromtheopticaldrive.
2.WhenthemessagePressanykeytobootfromcdordvd...isdisplayed,pressanykey.Ifthemessage
WindowsSetup[EMSEnabled]isdisplayed,pressEnter.Waitseveralminutesforthesystemtoload
theles.
3.WhentheEnteryourlanguageandotherpreferences...windowisdisplayed,congurethelanguage
andotheroptionsasyouneedandthenclickNext.
4.ClickInstallnow.
5.TypeyourproductkeyandthenclickNext.
6.Selecttheoperatingsystemthatyouwanttoinstall.Then,clickNext.
7.ReadthelicensetermsandselectIacceptthelicenseterms.Then,clickNext.
8.Selectthetypeofinstallationasyouneed.ThefollowingstepsarebasedonthescenariothatCustom:
(Advanced)isselectedinthisstep.
9.OntheWheredoyouwanttoinstallWindows?window,clickLoaddriver.
10.ConnecttheUSBstoragedevicethatcontainsthedrivertoyourserver,andthenbrowsetothefolder
wherethedriverisstored.
11.ClickOK.TheSelectthedrivertoinstallwindowisdisplayed.
12.SelectHidedriversthataren’tcompatiblewiththiscomputer’shardware,andthenselectthedriver
thatyouwanttoinstallonyourserver.ClickNext.
13.OntheWheredoyouwanttoinstallWindows?window,clickDriveoptions(advanced).
14.Selecttheharddiskdriveonwhichyouwanttoinstalltheoperatingsystem,andthenclickNew.
15.Typetheamountofspace(inMB),andthenclickApply.
16.Selectthedrivepartitiononwhichyouwanttoinstalltheoperatingsystem,andthenclickNext.The
installationbegins.
Note:Y ourserverwillrestartseveraltimesduringtheinstallation.
17.Changeyourpasswordwhenprompted.
Note:Thepasswordmustbeacombinationofuppercaseletters,lowercaseletters,andnumbers.
18.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentologintotheoperatingsystemwhenprompted.
Installingthedriverforthechipset
Toinstallthedriverforthechipset,dothefollowing:
1.LogintotheoperatingsystemandinserttheThinkServerEasyStartupDVDintotheopticaldrive.The
ThinkServerEasyStartupDVDrunsautomatically.
Note:IftheDVDdoesnotrunautomatically,clickRunlaunch.exeontheAutoPlaywindow.
2.OntheEndUserLicenseAgreementwindow,clickAccept.
3.Ontheinstallationwindow,clickDriverInstall.
4.SelectyourservermodelfromtheServerModeldrop-downlistbox,theoperatingsystemfromthe
OperatingSystemdrop-downlistbox,andthedriverfromtheSelectaDriverdrop-downlistbox.
5.ClickInstall.
