This document is an owner's manual for LEVIT e-bikes, providing comprehensive information on their function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.
Function Description
LEVIT e-bikes are bicycles equipped with an electric motor, a control unit, and a battery, designed to assist the rider with pedaling. The motor assistance activates when the rider actively pedals, with crankset motion monitored by a sensor in the bottom bracket. Motor assistance automatically switches off at approximately 25 km/h, allowing the rider to continue as on a regular bicycle. If the battery is depleted or the motor is switched off, the e-bike can still be ridden using human power without resistance.
The electric motor can also be engaged for "Walk Assistance" by pushing a control button or accelerator, reaching a maximum speed of 6 km/h. This feature is useful for manipulating the bicycle while walking. E-bikes compliant with EN 15194-1 are considered regular bicycles under road safety legislation, requiring no driving license. A bicycle helmet is compulsory for minors under 18 and recommended for all users.
The e-bike system includes various components:
- Battery: Provides power to the motor and control unit. Can be integrated into the frame or placed on the rear side of the seat tube.
- Control Unit: Manages motor operation and assistance levels. May be integrated into the motor.
- Motor: Provides assistance, located in the rear wheel, front wheel, or bottom bracket.
- Control Panel/Display: Shows information such as speed, battery status, assistance mode, and error messages. Different models feature CODAC (LCD), TFT Colour, LED, or VINKA DC40 displays.
- Brake Levers with Braking Sensor: Disables the motor automatically when brakes are applied (not applicable to all hydraulic disc brakes).
- Cadence (Speed) Sensor / Crankset Rotation Sensor: Detects pedaling motion to activate motor assistance.

- TFT COLOUR: Displays time, battery status (voltage/percentage), USB charging, lighting, speed scale, power indicator, assistance mode, indicator mode, data display (TRIP, 265.9Km).
- LED: Displays illumination, assistance mode, battery status.
- VINKA DC40: Displays lights activated, service indicator, motor power indicator, current speed, battery status, ride data (Cadence, ODO, Trip), assistance mode (ECO, BOOST, OFF).
Usage Features
Switching On/Off:
- Activate the electric system power on the battery by pushing its button.
- Switch on the display panel by pushing and holding the designated button (e.g., power button for CODAC, X button for TFT/LED/VINKA) for 2-5 seconds. The system switches off similarly.
- The system automatically switches off after a period of inactivity (e.g., 10 minutes for CODAC/LED, 5 minutes for TFT, 15 minutes for VINKA) to save energy.
Setting Assistance Mode:
- Briefly push the (+) or (-) button on the control display to change assistance levels.
- Levels typically range from 0 (no assistance) to 5 (highest assistance). VINKA DC40 uses "OFF," "ECO," and "BOOST."
- Warning: Low revolution rides with high assistance can cause motor vibration and overheating. Reduce assistance if this occurs.
Walk Assistance:
- Activated by pushing and holding the (-) button on the control display.
- An assistance mode from 1 to 5 must be selected first (for CODAC/LED/TFT). VINKA DC40 uses the "I" button followed by holding the (-) button.
- The e-bike speed will be between 4 and 6 km/h.
- Disables immediately upon releasing the button.
Display Information & Settings:
- Information Display: Short pushes of a button (e.g., "i" for CODAC/TFT, "I" for VINKA) cycle through data like TRIP, ODO, TIME, MAX speed, AVG speed, RANGE.
- Deletion of Temporary Data: Specific button combinations (e.g., two pushes of the power button for CODAC, (+) and (-) simultaneously for VINKA) allow resetting temporary data.
- Parameter Settings: Accessed by specific button sequences (e.g., two pushes of the power button for CODAC, "I" button twice for TFT, "I" and (-) simultaneously for VINKA). Allows adjusting units (km/miles), wheel circumference, display backlighting, speed limit, number of assists, power indicator format, battery status format, clock setting, and other system parameters.
- Switching on Lights: Push and hold the (+) button for 1 second (CODAC/LED/VINKA).
Battery Manipulation:
- Integrated Battery: Turn key 180° to remove. Move release/lock lever towards handlebars, pull battery gently upwards. Insert by placing over contacts, push upper part until it clicks, move lever back, turn key to lock.
- Battery on Rear Seat Tube: Remove seatpost with saddle. Lock is at lower part of battery. Turn key to UNLOCK, pull handle up. Insert by aligning groove with guiding ledge, slide carefully, turn key to LOCK.
- Charging: Connect charger to battery, then to mains (230V). LED on charger indicates charging (red) and full charge (green). Unplug after full charge.
- Storage: Store in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, at 15-20°C. Maintain 60-80% charge for long-term storage. Never leave completely flat.
Maintenance Features
Regular E-bike Maintenance:
- Regular care prolongs lifespan and ensures safety.
- Keep the e-bike and components clean using recommended cleaning agents (e.g., Dirtwash, Pure from Weldtite).
- Lubricate the chain regularly with suitable lubricants (e.g., TF2 lubricants from Weldtite).
- After winter rides, remove all traces of soil, paying attention to battery contacts and other electrical connections.
- Avoid damaging electrical system cables during manipulation.
- Regularly check all joints, brakes, and components for tightness, damage, or wear (frame, fork, stem, handlebars, cables, hoses, battery housing).
- Always remove the battery before transporting the e-bike in a car or on its roof.
Battery Care:
- Regular rides are best for battery health.
- Optimal charge status for longest lifespan is 20-80%.
- If flat, recharge to half capacity, let cool, then fully recharge.
- Store at 15-20°C with approximately half charge in winter. Check monthly and recharge if capacity drops.
- Lithium batteries discharge 5-10% per month when not in use.
- Recommendation: Lithium batteries are fully recyclable. Dispose of at collection points or retailers.
Installation and Adjustment:
- Wheel with Hub Motor: Disconnect motor connector, release brake caliper (if engaged), shift to smallest sprocket, loosen motor nuts (wrench no. 18), remove wheel. Reinstall in reverse.
- Warning: When installing, ensure axle notch is downwards and cable enters motor from below to prevent water leakage.
- Warning: When connecting the connector, align arrows and apply sufficient force to prevent non-functional motor or damage.
- Brake Disc Installation: Use original M5x8 bolts. Longer bolts (exceeding 8mm) will block the inner part of the motor.
Warranty:
- Warranty Inspection: Recommended after 100-150 km or within 3 months of sale. Performed by retailer to check joints, brakes, drivetrain, and electric system.
- Warranty Conditions: 24 months for frame and components (excluding wear and tear). 12 months for battery capacity (not dropping below 70%). Valid for original owner.
- Warranty Ceases If: Damaged due to owner's wrongdoing (accident, unprofessional tampering, incorrect storage), warranty period elapsed, ordinary wear and tear claimed, or e-bike chipped.
Disposal:
- Electrical and electronic products (motor, battery, display, sensors, cables) must not be disposed of in municipal solid waste.
- Bring to designated collection points for free disposal.
- Correct disposal helps preserve natural resources and prevents negative environmental and health impacts.
