Creating and Running a Simple Test
A. START
B. Set the Initial Conditions
i) Set force units to ‘N’ and distance units to ‘mm[1], [3], [1], [5] Engineering Units
ii) Set the local overload to 50N [1], [3], [1], [4] Local Overload
iii) Make sure sample break is disabled [1], [3], [1], [2] Sample Break
iv) Specify a tension test [1], [3], [3], <2> Dir(ection) - TENSION
v) Specify that tolerance limits will be based on absolute values [1], [4], <2> Limit Type-ABS
C. Choose a Name
i) Change the name of the current test procedure to ‘TUTORIAL-1' [1], [4], [4]
ii) Press [Start/ENT] to scroll through other procedure names
D. Create the Program
Set control commands using Define T(e)st Profile [1], [3], [3], [1]:
i) Set a test speed of 6mm/min for segment A
ii) Opt for Segment A to run for a given time; enter 10 seconds as that time
iii) ChooseYes’ option to create a segment B
iv) Set a test speed of -60mm/min for segment B
v) Opt for Segment B to run for a given time; enter 1 second as that time
vi) Do not press [1] to opt to cycle between segments, i.e. leave as ‘OFF’
E. Define the Calculations
Set the required calculations using Select Analysis [1], [3], [2], [1]
i) Press <1> to activate the Peak calculation. Press [Jog DN] to scroll to the next calculation
ii) Press <1> to activate the Minimum calculation. Press [Jog DN] to scroll to the next calculation
iii) Press <1> to activate the Average calculation. Press [Jog DN] to scroll to the next calculation
iv) Press [Stop/BK SP] to return to the Select Analysis Menu
v) Press [1] to re-enter the Select Analysis Menu
vi) Press [Start/ENT] twice to accept default Peak calculation parameters
vii) Set up the parameters of the Minimum calculation, press [Start/ENT], enter 0.1mm for
Displacement1, press [Start/ENT] and enter 1mm for Displacement2.
viii) Set up the parameters for the Average calculation, press [Start/ENT], enter 0.1mm for
Displacement1, press [Start/ENT] and enter 1mm for Displacement2 and press [Start/ENT]
