IMPORTANT: Mercury recommends that propylene glycol antifreeze be used in the seawater section of the cooling system for
cold weather (freezing temperature), seasonal storage, or extended storage. Make sure that the propylene glycol antifreeze
contains a rust inhibitor and is recommended for use in marine engines. Be certain to follow the propylene glycol
manufacturer's recommendations.
NOTE: An engine flushing attachment accessory kit P/N 8M0117941 is available to provide easy and convenient flushing of the
seawater cooling system.
1. Remove the boat from the water if possible.
2.
If the boat is to remain in the water, close the seacock.
3. Level the engine, if possible, to ensure complete draining of the seawater system.
4. Remove the seawater inlet hose from the seawater pump housing and allow any water to drain.
5. Remove the seawater drain plug from the aftercooler discharge pipe.

6. Remove the seawater drain plug from the oil cooler discharge pipe underneath the exhaust riser.
