Safety
Movement or placement of any part of the body inside the
infeed chute will result in dismemberment, mutilation,
serious injury, or death. Keep all parts of the body (hands,
feet, head) outside the infeed chute.
Function
The infeed acts as a safety barrier between the operator and the feed
wheels during the chipping process. The tray of the infeed folds up and
locks when not in use. The tray of the infeed can also be used to rest the
end of a limb prior to feeding it into the wood chipper. The safety control
bar controls the direction of the feed wheels.
Use
When feeding material into the infeed, keep all body parts outside of the
infeed chute. To safely accomplish this the material being fed should be no
shorter than 4’ long.
The brush being fed into the infeed should be no shorter than 4 ft. and no
wider than 56”.
The bar running around the outside of the infeed is the safety control bar.
The safety control bar has four positions. Furthest back position is Stop ,
this position stops the feedwheels, the second position is Forward, this
position pulls material into the feed wheels. The third is Stop, the fourth is
Reverse, this position reverses the feed wheels and pushes material out of
the feed wheel.
The infeed is equipped with two bright yellow emergency safety cables,
which are located inside the infeed. The safety cables are there in case the
operator is accidentally pulled into the infeed chute. When the safety cable
is pulled, it will move the safety control bar to reverse the feed wheels.
Maintenance
• Keep the infeed chute and tray clear of any debris (stones, glass,
metal, etc.) that may damage the machine
• Clean the infeed chute and tray only when the ignition key is out, all
covers are locked and the machine is stable
• Clear the infeed chute and tray of all debris before towing
DANGER!
CAUTION
Be sure the infeed chute and tray is clear of all debris before
transporting the machine. Loose debris, especially debris in the
infeed can dislodge and cause damage to vehicles behind the towed
chipper.
