Plugging is mainly caused by the engine RPM’s dropping too low. This
drop can be caused by running the unit at less than full RPM’s, by dull
knives that do not chip the wood efficiently or by trying to overfeed
material that is either too large or too soft, which prevents chipping. If
the unit has autofeed it should be set high enough to prevent a low RPM
situation.
Machine components may be hot or have sharp edges
which could cause serious injury. Always wear protective
gear during operation and maintenance.

Safety
Never attempt to remove material by starting the
machine and engaging the chipper to blow material out.
This is a very dangerous and unsafe practice!
Two (2) people shall be involved when attempting to
lower the discharge chute. The chute must be securely
supported while removing rear support bolts. Never
stand directly under the chute as it can fall, causing
injury.
CAUTION
Features and Function Components Discharge Chute Cleaning
To clean out the chute:
1. Complete lockout/tagout.
2. Inspect to make sure drum/disc has stopped turning.
3. Pull material out from the open end of the discharge.
4. If unit has a clean out door, open and remove any material that is
accessible.
5. For units without a clean out door or that still have material that is
unreachable through the clean out door, the chute should be lowered
to gain access to the clogged area.
WARNING: Two (2) People shall be involved when attempting to
lower the discharge chute. The chute must be securely supported
while removing rear support bolts. Never stand directly under the
chute as it can fall, causing serious injury or death.
6. Once the chute is lowered any remaining clogged material may then
be removed from the discharge area and chipper housing.
WARNING: Never attempt to remove material by starting the
machine and engaging the chipper to blow material out. This is a
very dangerous and unsafe proctice.
7. Reinstall components and attempt chipping again using small material
to determine if chipper discharges properly.
