Safety
Movement or placement of any part of the body inside the
infeed will result in dismemberment, mutilation, serious
injury, or death. Keep all parts of the body (hands, feet,
head) outside the infeed.
Function
The infeed acts as a safety barrier between the operator and the feed
wheels during the chipping process. The tray of the infeed can also be
used to rest the end of a limb prior to feeding it into the wood chipper.
The safety control bar controls the direction of the feed wheels.
Use
When loading material into the machine, keep all body parts outside of
the infeed chute. To safely feed material, the brush should be no shorter
than 4 ft. in length and no wider than the infeed opening of 44”.
The bar running around the outside of the infeed is the safety control
bar. The safety control bar has four positions. Furthest back position is
Stop, this position stops the feedwheels, the second position is Forward,
this position pulls material into the feed wheels. The third is Stop, the
fourth is Reverse, this position reverses the feed wheels and pushes
material out of the feed wheel.
The infeed is equipped with two bright yellow emergency safety cables,
which are located inside the infeed. The safety cables are there in case of
emergencies only. When the safety cable is pulled, it will move the safety
control bar to reverse the feed wheels.
Maintenance
Keep the infeed chute and tray clear of any debris (stones, glass,
metal, etc.) that may damage the machine
Clean the infeed chute and tray only when the power source to
the PTO has been shut-down and the chipper hood, yoke, and
discharge chute are locked down
