Now that you’ve become familiar with the entire chipping process, use the checklists below at the beginning and end of each cycle.
Start-up
o
Emergency equipment is on the work site
o
At least two trained personnel are on the work site
o
All personal are outfitted with proper protective clothing and
gear
o
Work site is inspected
o
Work site is prepared
o
Chipper is inspected for worn, damaged, missing, or loose parts
o
Chipper set-up for operation
o
Infeed is clear of debris
o
All shields and hoods are secured with locking pins
o
Tire pressure (if applicable) is checked for proper inflation
o
Daily maintenance is conducted. (see maintenance schedule)
Checklist
Shut-down
o
Safety control bar is in the neutral position
o
The ignition key is out of the machine and control panel is locked
o
The chipper drum has completely stopped rotating
o
The machine has cooled down for 15-20 minutes
o
All storage areas and covers are locked and secured
o
The work site is cleared of all debris
o
Infeed is clear of debris
o
If towing, the tongue is properly hitched to the towing vehicle,
the discharge is turned and centered with the front of the
machine and if equipped with an optional discharge chute
support, it is properly fastened
o
