Thefrequencyofcalibrationgastestingdependsontheoperatingtime,chemicalexposure,andtypeofsensor.Especially
innewinstallationsorapplications,itisrecommendedthatthefirstsensorsbecalibratedmoreoftentoestablishthesensor
performanceinthisparticularenvironment.
Forthis,youtypicallyrecordthe"asfound"and"asleft"gasvaluesandtrackthepercentadjustmentovertime.Then,
graduallyextendcalibrationintervalsuntilthepercentadjustmentisgreaterthantheexpectedaccuracyofthesensor.

WARNING!
CertainconditionsmaypreventtheperformanceofDiffusionSupervisionand/orTruCaltesting.Ifsuchaconditionpersists
for90days,theXCellsensorwithTruCalwillrecommendacalibrationwhichiscommunicatedthroughthetransmitter
displayandLEDs.WhenCalibrationAlertisenabled,themilliampsignaloutputwillalsobedriventocalibrationalertoutput.
Performacalibrationwhenthedevicerecommendsit.

5.3.1 CalibrationFrequencyforXCellSensorswithTruCalandDiffusionSupervision(H

SensorswithTruCaltechnologywilladjustsensitivitywithoutanymanualinterventionorcalibration,unlesscalledforbythe
sensor.IftheadjustedsensitivityfromTruCaldeviatestoofarfromthelastgascalibrationsensitivity,thesensorwill
recommendor,inextremecases,requireacalibration.Whenacalibrationisrecommended,thetransmitterLEDstatus
indicatorsslowlypulsegreen.UserscanalsoenableaCalibrationAlertfunctionthatwillsendamilli-ampsignalonthe
analogoutputtothecontrolroomwhenacalibrationisrecommended.Whenacalibrationisrequired,thestatusLEDswill
flashyellowandthetransmitterwillgointoaCalibrationRequiredFault.WithDiffusionSupervisionenabled,thesensors
alsoactivelymonitorthesensorinletforobstructionsandinitiatesafaultifthegasdiffusionpathbecomesobstructed.
WithDiffusionSupervisionandCalibrationAlertenabled,thetimebetweenscheduledcalibrationscanbe
extendedto24months.

SensorswithTruCaltechnologywilladjustsensitivitywithoutanymanualinterventionorcalibration,unlesscalledforbythe
sensor.IftheadjustedsensitivityfromTruCaldeviatestoofarfromthelastgascalibrationsensitivity,thesensorwill
recommendor,inextremecases,requireacalibration.Whenacalibrationisrecommended,thetransmitterLEDstatus
indicatorsslowlypulsegreen.UserscanalsoenableaCalibrationAlertfunctionthatwillsendamilli-ampsignalonthe
analogoutputtothecontrolroomwhenacalibrationisrecommended.Whenacalibrationisrequired,thestatusLEDswill
flashyellowandthetransmitterwillgointoaCalibrationRequiredFault.WithoutDiffusionSupervision,regularcalibrationof
thesensormuststillbeconductedtoconfirmthesensorinletisnotobstructed.
ActualTruCalsensorperformancewilldependontheapplication,backgroundgasexposure,andenvironment.Tovalidate
XCellsensorswithTruCal,itisrecommendedthatusersfollowtheirregularcalibrationcycleandrecordthe“asfound”and
“asleft”values,trackingthepercentadjustmentovertime.Onceabaselineisestablished,thecalibrationintervalscanbe
extendeduntilthepercentadjustmentisgreaterthantheexpectedaccuracyofthesensor.
