8.16 Low-Temperature Circuit
8.16.1 Charge-air coolant – Level check
Preconditions
☑ Engine is stopped and starting disabled.
☑ MTU Fluids and Lubricants Specifications (A001061/..) are available.
WARNING
Coolant is hot and under pressure.
Risk of injury and scalding!
• Let the engine cool down.
• Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles / safety mask.
Checking charge-air coolant level at filler neck:
1. Turn cap on coolant expansion tank counterclockwise to the first stop and allow pressure to escape.
2. Continue to turn cap counterclockwise and remove.
Note: Charge-air coolant must be visible at marker
plate.
3. Check charge-air coolant level.
4. Top up charge-air coolant as necessary
(→ Page 129).
5. Check that cap is in serviceable condition.
6. Clean sealing surfaces as necessary.
7. Fit cap and close tight.
Checking charge-air coolant level by means of level sensor:
Note: Coolant level is automatically monitored by engine control system.
1. Switch on engine control system and check readings on the display.
2. Top up charge-air coolant as necessary (→ Page 129).
