8.15.7 Breather valve – Replacement
Preconditions
☑ Engine is stopped and starting disabled.

WARNING
Coolant is hot and under pressure.
Risk of injury and scalding!
• Let the engine cool down.
• Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles / safety mask.
Preparatory steps
u Switch off preheating unit.
Breather valve – Replacement
Note: Pictorial schematic. Design may deviate.
1. Turn breather valve (1) on coolant expansion
tank counterclockwise until the first stop and
release pressure.
2. Continue to turn breather valve counterclock-
wise and remove.
3. Remove chain with screw (4) and washer (3).
4. Draw off separated corrosion inhibitor oil in
expansion tank via filler neck (2).
5. Fit new breather valve and close it.
6. Install chain.
