Selectaplacewherethedehumidiercausestheleastdisturbancetothecold-storageroomactivities,while
allowingformaintenanceworksuchasprocesslterreplacement.
Whentheunitisinstalledonabaseframe,thebaseframemustbedesignedinsuchawaythatitcaneasilybe
removedfromthecoldstore/freezer.Makesureopeningsforforkliftareincluded.
Thedehumidiermustbeplacedsothatthereisnoriskoftheprocessintakeandltericingup.Icenormally
formsnearthedoorsandair-locksofthecoldstorewherewarm,humidairowsin.
Installthedehumidierinsuchawaythatthereactivationairandwetairductsareasshortaspossible,max

4.6.1Generalrecommendations

Duetothecoldsurroundingsandriskoffreezing,itisvitalthatallductingareinstalledaccordingto
instructions.Seealso4.7,Installationexamples—coldstorageroom(freezer).
Tofacilitateeasytransferofthedehumidieroutofthecold-storageroomforservice,allductconnections
shouldbeeasilydisassembled.Shouldthedehumidier,despitethisrecommendation,beinstalledinsucha
waythatitcannotbeeasilyremovedforservice,itisimportantthattheminimumservicespacerequirements
aremet,see8.1,Dimensionsandservicespace.Avapour-tightconnectionbetweenthewallandtheductisvital.
Preferably,polyurethanefoamshouldbeusedifthetemperatureissufcientlyhighduringapplication.
Wheninstallingductworkbetweenthedehumidierandtheinletandoutletconnections,thefollowing
recommendationsshouldbeobserved:
■Thelengthofductworkshouldbekeptasshortaspossibletominimisestaticairpressurelosses.
■Tomaintainperformance,allrigidprocessorreactivationairductworkjointsmustbeairandvapour
tight.
■Thedesignoftheductconnectionsshouldfacilitateeasydisconnectionoftheunitforserviceoutside
thecold-storageroom.
■Condensationeasilybuildsupontheinsideoftheductduetothehighhumidityofthereactivationair.
Toavoidcondensation,theductworkmustbeinsulated.
■Theprocessairductworkshouldbeinsulatedtopreventcondensationfromdevelopingontheoutside
oftheductwheneverthetemperatureoftheairwithintheductfallsbelowthedewpointoftheambient
airthroughwhichtheductworkisrouted.
■Thewetairleavingthedehumidierwilleasilycausecondensationontheinsideoftheductwallsdueto
thehighmoisturecontent.Thismustbeavoidedbyinsulatingtheducts.
■Ensurethataccessforoperationandservicingisnotrestrictedwhendesigningandinstallingducting.

■Toreducenoiseand/orvibrationbeingtransmittedalongrigidductwork,goodquality,airtightexible
connectionsshouldbetted.
■Ductsmounteddirectlyontothedehumidiershouldbeadequatelysupportedtominimisetheloadand
stressduetotheweightandmovementoftheducting.
