Turn the adjustment ring nut of the spring preload using
special tool, in one direction or the other depending on
the calculated static failure value
D.
- F4 S / FT / R MY12 / F4 MY13:
Special tool:
75 mm Allen spanner
D < 23 mm: Turn anticlockwise
D > 23 mm: Turn clockwise
- F4 RR MY12 / F4 R MY13:
Special tool:
Spanner No. 8000B7038
D < 22 mm: Turn anticlockwise
D > 22 mm: Turn clockwise
- F4 RR MY12 / F4 R MY13:
Special tool:
Spanner No. 8000B7038
D < 23 mm: Turn anticlockwise
D > 23 mm: Turn clockwise
Measure the distance X
2
between the upper end of the
stand tube and the point on the setting rod indicated by
an arrow (see figure).
Calculate static settling
D using the following formula:
D =X
1
– X
2
The static settling value should be:
- F4 S / FT / R MY12 / F4 MY13:
D = 23 mm
- F4 RR MY12 / F4 R MY13:
D = 22 mm
- F4 RR MY13:
D = 23 mm
If static settling
D differs from the above value, perform
the following adjustments on the shock absorber
spring.
After having completed the adjustment of the motorcy-
cle set-up, it is necessary to adjust the tension of the
chain.
Check also the orientation of the front headlight and if
necessary effectuate the necessary adjustments.
Both these operations are described in chapter B
“Maintenance”.
