Installation Procedure
Downloading the Installer for Retail Platform Software
The 5976 Retail Platform Software can be downloaded from the NCR website.
Perform these steps to download the software:
1. Go to http://www5.ncr.com/support/support_drivers_patches.asp
.
2. Select Retail Support Files (Drivers, Firmware, Operating Systems, Platform
Software (OPOS/JavaPOS), BIOS, etc.).
3. Select NCR RealPOS and SelfServ Platform Software (Windows RPSW
(OPOS/JavaPOS), DOS and Linux RPSL (JavaPOS)).
The window displays the following options.
• Windows (OPOS/JavaPOS)
• Linux (JavaPOS)
• DOS
• Java
4. Select the corresponding operating system of your terminal.
5. Download the installer designed for your system.
Linux
To obtain the installer for Linux, please contact NCR
Windows
a. Select Released/Supported.
b. Select the RPSW version for your system.
c. Select Retail Platform Software for Windows.msi.
6. Save the downloaded file to a working directory on the terminal hard drive.
Note: You can extract to or run the files from a Flash Drive, CDROM, or network
if desired.
