SECTION 4IP PHONE BEHIND A NAT ROUTER
A common scenario puts the phone behind a NAT router at a worker’s home or hotel.
The router does not do fixed port forwarding, but does set up associations for UDP
transactions using Network Address Translation. Refer to the following example.
To set up this example, follow these steps:
1. Configure the IP addresses and Subnet mask settings on the phone, NAT
router, and IAD card.
2. IP Phone -Set the MGC address in the phone to the public address of the IAD
card, “201.116.4.120”.
3. Enter an extension number into the phone that matches one of the station
numbers that is assigned to the IAD card.
4. IAD (8)-U10 ETU -On the Ports page of the IAD card’s web configuration
interface, check the DHCP box for the phone. Uncheck the “Outside Firewall”
box for this phone, since there is no firewall router on the IAD card side of the
WAN.
