Summary

1 Introduction

ADC Output

World class A to Ds with sampling rates of up to 192kHz and DSD outputs.

Fader Pack

16 Input Faders with cut solo controls and post fade direct outputs plus 2 Master Faders.

2 Application Scenarios

RECORDING

Using the 8816 to monitor from the workstation while recording directly from a mic pre.

Direct recording with 8816 as monitor

Connect the outputs of the workstation to the inputs of the 8816 for monitoring.

Sub-mixing signals to be recorded

Connect instruments to 8816 inputs and then to the workstation for recording.

RECORDING WITH FADER PACK

OVERDUBBING

MIXING

INS (Inserts)

Switches main mix pre fade insert in/out; two modes: normal and sum/difference.

2TR MIX (2 Track Mix)

Sends the 2 track return signal directly to the 2 track mix bus.

2TR Level Control

Adjusts two track return level sent to Cue Mix or 2 track mix bus.

MIXING WITH FADER PACK

MASTERING

Sum & Difference Mode

Processes centre sum/mono and stereo/difference signals separately.

Width control

Used to reduce or enhance stereo width for remixes or mastering.

LIVE RECORDING

Channel Strip

Comprises cut/solo button, rotary level control, rotary pan, and cue select button.

Level Control

Sets levels to main Mix Outputs and Utility Aux Bus; changes to aux send when fader pack fitted.

Pan Control

Classic -3dB centre pan with S Law shaping for accurate panning.

Channel Cut /Solo button

Mutes feed to main bus (Cut) or solos channel (Solo In Place).

Analogue and Digital overload indication

Indicates analogue clip (red LED) and digital overload (yellow LED).

Provides 16 Input faders, mutes, 2 Master faders; rotary controls become aux sends.

Selects sample frequency via button; unit syncs to AES or Word Clock.
