Peripheral Equipment
(1) Personal computer (PC)
The DS-U1 is connected to a PC via a USB2.0 interface. The DS-U1 can perform the following
operations via the application software on the PC connected to the DS-U1.
The application software is sold separately.
1) Display images captured by the microscope on the PC monitor
2) Confirm and change DS-U1 settings (photographing conditions, etc.)
3) Display and control the operating status of the Nikon i-series Microscope (via DS-U1)
The PC and PC monitor to be connected to the DS-U1 must meet the following system
requirements.
PC unit

Type DOS/V machine equipped with USB2.0 port
CPU Pentium 4 1.7 GHz or higher (Pentium 4 2.4 GHz or higher recommended for
image processing.)
Memory Minimum 512 MB RAM (1 GB recommended)
Hard disk 100 MB of free hard disk space for installation; 300 MB of free disk space for
program execution
Video 1280 x 1024 pixels, High Color Mode or better (monitor/video card capable of
True Color output recommended)
DirectX 9.06
OS Windows 2000 (Japanese or English)
Windows XP (Japanese or English)
Note) Use the version indicated below.
Windows 2000 (Japanese or English):
Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 or later
Windows XP (Japanese or English):
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 or later
Other The DS-U1 driver is provided on a CD-R disk. Installing the driver requires a
PC with a CD-ROM drive.
All applications connecting to the DS-U1 require Microsoft DirectX 9.06.
Install Microsoft DirectX 9.06 in advance.
We recommend installing Microsoft's standard USB2.0 device driver for the
PC's USB controller.
