3.23 Aux Outputs
NIRA i7x has four auxiliary outputs, marked ”Aux Relay” and ”Aux PWM1 - 3”
in the NIRA i7x harness.
The aux outputs can typically be used to control a nitrous oxide injection
system, water injection, a fan or a shift light. Each aux output can sink max
600mA current. They can not source any current, so if a sourcing output is
required, a pull-up to +5V or +12V is necessary.
Aux Relay is a 1 ampere low side driver for relay with hysteresis function.
Aux PWM1 to AUX PWM3 is user defined PWM outputs controlled by 3d
maps. All Aux PWM’s have different characteristics.
3.24 Mounting NIRA i7x in the Car
Mount NIRA i7x securely in a protected place in the passenger compartment.
Avoid overly hot areas. The maximum ambient temperature without any
cooling fan is 70 degrees Celsius.
If you’ve gone through the installation instructions above, the sensor/actuator
side of the harness is now connected. Now connect the wire marked “ECU
Supply 12V” to Battery through a 30 amp fuse. Connect the wire marked
“KEY” to the ignition switch. Find an ignition switch terminal that’s powered
also during cranking.
Both NIRA i7x harness wires marked “ECU GND” must be connected to
engine ground, either to the block or to the intake manifold. Do NOT
connect the “ECU GND” wires to the body of the vehicle.
Supply the injectors by the NIRA i7x controlled Main Relay.
At this point all sensors needed to run the engine should be installed.
Additionally, the fuel injectors, ignition coils and other parts of the engine
should be installed.
