Operation
WARNING: Allow only qualified personnel to perform the
following tasks. Follow the safety instructions in this document
and all other related documentation.
Before the pump is put into service, flush it with a solvent or cleaning
solution that is compatible with the seals and packings of each system
component and material to be pumped. This procedure will flush out any
contaminants left in the pump or system during the manufacturing and
installation process.
1.See Figure 4-1. Place the siphon rod and strainer (6) into a container
of the flush material. If using a circulating system, place the drain-off
rod (7) into a suitable waste container. If using a non-circulating
system, remove the nozzle or fluid tip and air cap from the spray
gun(11). Point the spray gun into a waste container.
2.If used, close the circulation valve (9) and slowly open the drain-off
valve (8).
3.Turn the air pressure regulator knob (4) counterclockwise until it is
backed all the way off. The air pressure gage should read 0.
4.Open the air supply shut-off valve (5).
5.Turn the air pressure regulator knob (4) until the pump begins to
stroke. Adjust the air pressure until the pump is stroking about
8–10times a minute. If using a non-circulating system, trigger the
spray gun (11) into a waste container.
6.Adjust the air supply lubricator (2) to deliver one drop every
17–25strokes or one drop every minute.
7.Operate the pump (1) until enough flush material has circulated
through the system to remove any contaminants. If using a
circulating system, keep the circulation valve (9) closed.
8.Remove the siphon rod and strainer (6) from the flush material supply
container. Allow the pump (1) to run until all of the flush material has
been discharged from the system and air bubbles emerge from the
drain-off rod (7) or spray gun (11).
