See Figure 7-1. Use the following procedure to assemble the air valve.
1.Lubricate all moving parts and contact areas with a light grease
before reassembly. All O-rings should be lubricated with O-ring
grease before installation.
2.Lay the center block (29) on its back (see Figure 7-2) on a clean flat
surface, install new O-rings (26), and insert the poppet guide (28) into
the block through the bore in the sides.
3.Insert the arm (7) into the oval hole in the top of the center block so
that the fork in the bottom on the arm fits over the flats on the sides of
the poppet guide.
4.Install a new O-ring (8) on the crankshaft and press the crankshaft
(crank pointing to the left) into the bore in the front of the center block.
Line the square shoulder of the crankshaft up with the square hole in
the arm and press crankshaft into block until seated.
5.Install new O-rings (8) on and into the end bushing (10) and press
end bushing into opposite side of center block, while holding
crankshaft in place. Install socket head screw (9) through end
bushing and thread into crankshaft end.
6.Install the poppets (22) onto the poppet guide and secure in place
with the socket head screws (23).
7.Install the new end plate washers (24) into the grooves in the end
plates (11).
8.Note the beveled corner on each of the end plates. Butt the end
plates up against the center block so that on one side the beveled
corner is facing up and forward and on the other the beveled corner is
facing down and forward, as shown in Figure 7-2.
9.Install the lockwashers (13) on the four fillister head screws (12).
Install the two screws through each end plate and center block.
Tighten securely.
