Use the following steps to start the pump on a daily basis.
1.See Figure 4-1. Place the siphon rod and strainer (6) into a container
of material to besprayed.
2.Slowly pressurize the system by adjusting the pump air pressure
regulator knob (4) until the pump is stroking approximately 8–10 times
a minute.
3.If using a circulating system, open the drain-off valve (8) and close
the circulation valve (9). Allow at least one pint of material to flow
from the drain-off rod. If using a non-circulating system, trigger the
spray gun (11) into a waste container until all air is pumped from
thesystem.
4.Close the drain-off valve (8) or shut the spray gun (11) off.
5.Adjust the air pressure regulator knob (4) to the desired
operatingpressure.
6.Slowly open the circulation valve (9), if used, or trigger the spray
gun(11) until the pump is stroking 8–10 times a minute.
7.Check the air lubricator oil supply and the delivery rate.
WARNING: Do not turn the heater on until the pump is started
and fluid is circulating through the system. Failure to circulate
fluid through the heater could result in the heater plugging,
failure, and cause personal injury or property damage.
CAUTION: Materials with solids that quickly settle out should
be kept circulating through system at all times to avoid
heaterplugging.
8.If used, turn the heater (14) on.
9.When the thermometer (13) reads within 5_ of the desired operating
temperature, adjust the circulation valve (9) or air the pressure
regulator (4) until the pump strokes at the desired rate.
NOTE: A typical operating rate is 8–10 strokes a minute without
gunsspraying.
