Signal words
The following signal words are used throughout this manual.
DANGER
• Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or
serious injury.
WARNING
• Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or
serious injury.
CAUTION
• Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or
moderate injury. It may also be used to alert against unsafe practices or potential equipment
damage.
NOTE
• Indicates additional helpful information.
Dangers, warnings and cautions
Follow the dangers, warnings and cautions described below when handling this
instrument. The information is to be supplemented by the dangers, warnings and
cautions given in each chapter.
DANGER
• Never use this instrument in observation inside the human and animal cavity. The human
body or animal may be injured.
WARNING
• Never use this instrument in a flammable atmosphere. Otherwise, an explosion or fire may
result.
• Do not use the instrument in an environment filled with fine particles such as metal dust.
• With the exception of the 6 mm and 4 mm-type scope insertion tubes, this instrument and its
case are not designed to be waterproof. Except for the scope insertion tube, never use or
store the instrument in any location where it might be submerged in water. An electric shock
may result.
• Never use this instrument on a piece of electrical equipment being energized. Since the
exterior finish of the scope is electroconductive, an electric shock may occur if it is brought in
contact with an active part.
• Always turn the [LIGHT] button OFF when discontinuing use of this instrument. Otherwise the
light emitted from the scope may heat a nearby object and cause fire ignition.
