VISERA RHINO-LARYNGO VIDEOSCOPE ENF-V2
6.8 Steam sterilization (autoclaving) of accessories
The accessories listed in Table 6.1 on page 36 are compatible with steam
sterilization (autoclaving) and can be sterilized by steam within the parameters
given in Table 6.3 on page 45. When steam sterilizing, follow the hospital’s
protocol and the sterilization equipment manufacturer’s instructions. Prior to
steam sterilization (autoclaving) of accessories, more intensive cleaning such as
ultrasonic cleaning may be required for some accessories/instruments that are
highly contaminated. Please refer to the respective accessories instruction
manual.
Use biological indicators as recommended by your hospital’s
policy, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions, all national
and local hospital guidelines and policies.
Before taking the device package out of the autoclave
equipment, let it cool down to room temperature. Otherwise,
it may cause burns to the people handling the instrument.
Effective sterilization will not be possible if items are packed
tightly together for autoclaving, always pack items loosely.
Inspect each package for openings, tears or other damage. If
a package is open or damaged, seal the device in a new
package and re-sterilize it.
Allow the package to dry within the autoclave, using the
autoclave’s drying cycle (if available) or by opening the door
of the autoclave and allow the packages to air-dry. Handling
a wet package can compromise its sterility.
Employ the full autoclaving cycle indicated in Table 6.3 on
page 45, including the vacuum-drying cycle after autoclaving.
Without the vacuum-drying cycle, the instrument may
malfunction or become damaged.
Do not autoclave at a temperature above 134C.
The instrument may malfunction if it is exposed to a
temperature above 134C.
Do not steam sterilize the endoscope. Steam sterilization
(autoclaving) will severely damage the endoscope.
Exceeding the recommended parameters may cause
equipment damage (Table 6.4 on page 46).
