TROUBLESHOOTING
For the latest Troubleshooting Tips and FAQs, visit www.omnifimedia.com
1. Omnifi won’t turn on.
• Verify the DMS1 is plugged into an active electrical outlet. Try swapping outlets and if plugged into a power strip,
make sure power strip is on.
2. Omnifi does not recognize pc/Simple Center.
• Wired or Wireless
• Reboot your PC, make sure SimpleCenter is running
• Reboot the Omnifi DMS1 by holding down the power button for 5 seconds
• Go into the “Settings” menu of your DMS1 and select “Search for SimpleCenter”
• Wireless Connection:
• Check IP settings. An address that begins with 169 usually means a lack of communication with the DHCP Server.
• Verify pc and Omnifi have the same SSID and Channel settings.
• Turn off WEP until connectivity is established.
• Try moving the wireless adapter closer to router/access point.
• To rule out interference, try changing the Channel on pc and Omnifi.
• Wired Ethernet:
• Check that IP is set to obtain automatically.
• Swap router ports to rule out a bad port.
• Try a known good cable.
3. Omnifi won’t play my music.
• Check your stereo connections and settings.
• Verify correct file formats-MP3 or WMA files only (for now).
• Ensure your stereo is turned on, the volume is up, and mute is off.
• Ensure Omnifi is connected to proper inputs on the back of the stereo.
• Confirm the “source” selected on your car stereo corresponds to the inputs used to connect Omnifi. For example,
if you connected Omnifi to your CD inputs, ensure your stereo displays CD as the input source.
• Ensure Tape Monitor is turned off on your stereo.
• Verify the Network adapter Link light is on.
4. Omnifi sounds choppy/poor sound.
• Files ripped at 320kbps bit rate are very bandwidth intensive and can sound choppy on a wireless network with poor
signal strength. Try relocating the antenna.
• Try re-ripping the files at 128kbps.
• If wireless, reduce ambient RF interference from cordless phones, microwaves, etc.
5. Omnifi remote problems.
• Install fresh batteries.
• Try to point remote on a more direct plane with Omnifi.
