11. Environmental Information
11.1. Sulphur Hexafluoride SF

cpg.0 family is designed as a hermetically sealed pressure
system containing sulphur hexauoride (SF
6
).
SF
6
gas contained in the cpg.0 cubicles complies with
quality requirements stated in standard IEC 60376.
SF
6
is included in the Kyoto Protocol list of greenhouse gases.
SF
6
has a GWP (Global Warming Potential) of 22 200 units.
(TAR, IPCC 2001).
At the end of the product's life, the SF
6
contained in it
must be recovered for processing and recycling, to prevent
it being released into the atmosphere. Extracting and
handling of SF
6
must be carried out by qualied personnel,
using a sealed piercing system.
For the usage and handling of SF
6
, the instructions indicated
in IEC 62271-4 must be followed.
11.2. Recyclability
Management and treatment of waste materials must
be carried out in accordance with the country’s current
legislation.
The materials that make up the cubicle (bases and front, tank,
disconnector/earthing switch and driving mechanisms)
can be recycled. For further information, please contact

The bushings contain copper components which are
dicult to separate from the resin. Therefore, these are
treated as inert industrial waste together with the plastics.
SF

gas is not considered as waste, however Ormazabal
extracts the SF
6
from the cubicles at the end of their service
life, sends it for analysis and re-uses it if it retains its dened
characteristics.
