CheckEngineLamp
The“CheckEngine”lampilluminates
whentheengineneedsserviceatthe
rstavailableopportunity.
The“CheckEngine”lampisamber,
andcanlooklike:
Thewords“WARNING”or
“CHECKENGINE”spelledout.
Asymbolofanengine,similarto
thegraphicillustrated.
The“CheckEngine”lampislocated
onthefaceofthetachometerand
illuminateswhenaproblemexists,
butthevehiclecanstillbesafely
driven.Thevehicleshouldbeserviced
tocorrecttheproblem,butthe
situationshouldnotbeconsideredan
emergency.The“CheckEngine”lamp
willactivateforseveralreasons.These
includebutarenotlimitedto:Waterin
fuelandDieselParticulateFilter(DPF)
regenerationrequired.
The“CheckEngine”lampistoashfor
30secondsatkeyONwhenoneofthe
followingoccurs.Thisashingfunction
isreferredtoasthe“maintenance”
lamp.The“maintenance”lampcould
ashforanyofthefollowingreasons:
Maintenancerequired(ifthe
MaintenanceMonitorisenabled).
Water-in-fuelisdetected.
Coolantlevelislow.
MalfunctionIndicatorLamp
The“MalfunctionIndicatorLamp”(MIL)
illuminateswhenanengineemissions
failurehasoccurred.Thevehicle
canbesafelydrivenbutshouldbe
servicedtocorrecttheproblem.The
situationshouldnotbeconsideredan
emergency.Insomecases,theMIL
willactivateinconjunctionwiththe
“HighExhaustSystemT emperature,”
DPFand“DieselExhaustFluid”(DEF)
warninglamps.
