NOTE
Ittakesapproximately15minutes
foralltheoiltorunintothesump
whentheengineis‘warm.’Ifthe
levelischeckedimmediatelyafter
switchingofftheengine,thedip-
stickwillshowalowoillevel.
Aftertheengineisshutoffitwilltake
atleast15minutesforalltheengine
oiltoreturntothesump.Ifthelevelis
checkedimmediatelyafterswitching
offtheengine,thedipstickwillshow
alowoillevel.
1.Enginecoolantshouldbeator
abovetheoperatingtemperature
of180°F(82°C).
2.Makesurethatthevehicle
suspensionissittingat,both
lengthwiseandcrosswise.Check
thiscarefullyonavehiclewithair
suspension.
3.Twistthedipstickhandletounlock
it,thenpullthedipstickoutofthe
holder.
4.Wipethedipstickcleanwitha
lint-freecloth.
5.Reinsertthedipstickintothe
holder.
6.Removethedipstickfromthe
holderandchecktheoillevel.The
oillevelshouldalwaysbebetween
thetwomarksonthedipstick.
7.Reinstallthedipstickandtwistto
lockitinplace.
NOTE
Ontheengineoildipstick,thedif-
ferencebetweenthelowoillevel
mark(2)andhighoillevelmark(1)
istwoUSquarts(1.9liters).
