TheenginebrakeisNOTintendedas
theprimarybrakeforthevehicle,nor
isitanemergencybrake.Theengine
brakeonlyhelpstheservicebrakesby
usingpressuretoslowthedrivetrain.
Usetheservicebrakesforquickstops.
WARNING!
DONOTdrivewithfrequentorcon-
tinuoususeoftheservicebrakes.
Thiscanoverheatthebrakesand
resultinexcessiveliningwear,in-
creasedstoppingdistances,pos-
siblyanaccidentandmayleadto
personalinjury.Beforedescend-
ingasteepgrade,shifttoalower
gear,keepthevehiclespeedlow,
andavoidcontinuousapplication
tothebrakes.Failuretocomply
mayresultindeath,personalin-
jury,equipmentorpropertydam-
age.
NOTE
Thelongerorsteeperthehill,the
moreimportantitistouseyouren-
ginebrakes.Makemaximumuse
ofyourenginebrakesbygearing
downandlettingtheenginebrakes
dothework.
Iffrequentuseofthevehicleservice
brakesisrequired,itisrecommended
thataslowercontrolspeedbeusedby
selectingalowertransmissiongear.
