Chapter 5 Safety equipment
57
Operation with crane hook and RTC
With RTC switched on it is possible to use a crane hook on the fly-jib. The rope needs not be unreeved
for this.
Precondition:
The crane is completely unfolded.
The power link rope winch and lateral guide pulley must be in working positions.
The rope is secured in the safety pin.
RTC is active.
Start tensioning the rope:
The rope tensioning equipment starts with every movement of the crane except slewing.
You may actuate all hydraulic crane and fly-jib functions.
Danger! When you select the wrong speed for the extension booms,
loops of slack rope may develop.
They may considerably damage the rope and the load may fall down.
There is risk of injury or even fatal injury.
For the extensions choose a speed where RTC always winds the rope under tension.
Note! At low temperatures pay particular attention to the boom
speed when you retract the extension booms.
Maintenance of cranes with RTC
Danger! During maintenance work on the crane the rope must be
unreeved and RTC off, otherwise there is serious risk of getting
crushed by the rope and therefore risk of fatal injury for the operator
and others.
During maintenance observe all instructions including safety instructions given in chapters 10 and 11.
