Basic
Taking Pictures Easily ( Intelligent Mode)
The camera automatically sets the
appropriate settings according to the
subject and recording condition. This mode
is recommended for beginners to take
pictures easily.
Set the camera to intelligent
mode
[ ].

Set the recording/playback switch
to rec mode and press [MODE].
2 Select [ INTELLIGENT] and
press [MENU/SET].
Hold this unit gently with both
hands, keep your arms still at
your side and stand with your
feet slightly apart.

B AF assist lamp
Aim the composition and press the
shutter button half way.

C The focus indication lights green.
When the focus indication blinks, the
subject is out of focus.

D AF area
AF area is displayed on suitable focus
points. (Max. 5 points)
E Aperture value
The camera beeps twice when the
subject is focused.
The focus range is 5 cm (0.16 feet) to
Z.
However, the available distance between
the camera and the subject becomes
further as you set high magni cation (up
to 30 cm (0.98 feet) to
Z).
Press the halfway pressed shutter
button fully to take a picture.
The following functions are automatically
activated.
INTELLIGENT ISO
The camera automatically sets the
adequate ISO sensitivity and shutter speed
according to the action and brightness of
the subject.
QUICK AF
Focusing will be faster when the shutter
button is pressed as the camera
automatically adjusts the focus when
there is not much jittering.
STABILIZER
The camera automatically detects and
compensates for jittering.
MACRO
[
i-MACRO] is automatically set when
the subject is close to the camera.
i-MACRO may not work according to
the recording condition. In that case,
the setting is xed to initial setting of
Intelligent mode [ ].
You can automatically display pictures
vertically if they were recorded holding
the camera vertically ( P30 , 81 ).
When you press the shutter button, the
screen may become bright or dark for
