7.14 Motor temperature sensor
A temperature sensor with a positive temperature coefficient embedded in the motor winding provides a
means for the motor controller to monitor motor temperature. Motor temperature is used in the vector control
algorithms and can also be used to protect the motor from overheating.
The motor controller can be configured to operate with different sensors such as KTY 84.

NOTE
Installation of the motor temperature sensor is done by the motor manufacturer. Contact the
motor manufacturer to get the correct wiring. If the temperature sensor cables are not
connected with the right polarity, the sensor readings will not be correct and overtemperature
protection of the motor will not work properly.
7.15 Double-mounting of GVI
Two motor controllers can be connected with a bus bar, e.g. for a vehicle traction and pump control setup.

CAUTION
Mechanical movements and vibrations - risk of damage to equipment
The connected motor controllers shall be mounted on the same stable surface so that
movements and vibrations from the vehicle cannot twist the busbar between them. If other
components are connected to the motor controllers on a separate mounting surface, cables
shall be used between the components and the motor controllers.

Connect the busbar or cable with fasteners according OEM specification or chapter 10.5.
7.16 I/O interface
The I/O interface is described in chapter 0.

7.17 Start-up and Commissioning
7.17.1. Configuring the motor controller for the application

WARNING
Testing vehicle parameters – risk of personnel injury/damage to equipment
All motor controller settings and functionality have to be verified and validated by the OEM
prior to use in the field by an end user.
The complete range of parameter values that are updated by the truck controller (or any other
device) must also be verified and validated prior to use in the field by the end user.
During the process when the parameter values are established it is of major importance to
take proper safety precautions when testing since incorrect parameter values may jeopardize
the operation of the truck’s safety critical functions.
It is the OEMs responsibility to ensure that the vehicle is configured and set up to conform to
applicable safety regulations.
